Shipping Your Downhomebernedoodle Puppy

We understand that bringing your new Downhomebernedoodle puppy home is an exciting time, and we strive to make the process as smooth and safe as possible, even if you are not local. Here are our shipping procedures:

Travel Arrangements: We handle all travel arrangements for your puppy. For air travel, we typically ship to your nearest major airport. Home delivery may also be an option in certain circumstances. Our shipping specialist will determine the most convenient and pet-friendly airport for your puppy’s journey. We exclusively use airlines that adhere to a “Pet Safe Program” to ensure the well-being of your puppy during transit.

Flight Coordination: Once an airport is selected, we coordinate all flight schedules and considerations. We will book the flight and provide you with a detailed email itinerary, including all times, flight numbers, schedules, and the designated pick-up location.

Departure Day: On the day of your puppy’s flight, we will transport them to the airport. After all necessary paperwork is completed and your puppy is checked in, you will receive an email or phone call with an update on their status.

Safety and Comfort During Shipping:

The safety and comfort of our puppies are our top priorities during shipping. We understand that you may have concerns about the process. Here’s what we do to ensure a safe and stress-free journey:

Airline Pet Safety: We only utilize airlines with established and reputable pet safety programs.
Crate Preparation: We secure puppy food and clear feeding instructions to the top of the crate. We also provide frozen water, which will gradually thaw to ensure hydration throughout the journey. Puppies are offered food during layovers, if applicable.
Flight Monitoring: We track flights closely, including any potential delays or layovers, and will keep you informed of your puppy’s location and estimated arrival time. The average domestic flight time is approximately 2 to 5 hours.
Comfort Items: Each puppy travels in a comfortable crate with a soft bedding of shredded paper for nesting. We also include a chew toy and an item with our scent to provide familiarity and security.

Temperature Considerations:

We prioritize your puppy’s safety regarding temperature:

Airline Regulations: Airlines have strict temperature guidelines for pet transport (typically between 20°F and 85°F).
Climate-Controlled Environment: All puppies travel in the climate-controlled belly of the aircraft, where the temperature is maintained at a comfortable level, similar to the passenger cabin (around 70°F).
Ground Safety: Airlines have protocols to prevent puppies from being exposed to extreme temperatures on the ground. We monitor weather conditions at both the departure and arrival airports and will adjust shipping schedules as needed to ensure safe transit.
Seasonal Adjustments: During extreme temperatures, we may opt to ship earlier or later in the day or postpone shipping until more favorable conditions prevail.

Electronic Crates (Temperature Regulation): Please note that while not always standard for all pet shipments, specialized pet transport services may utilize electronic crates that offer active temperature regulation for enhanced comfort and safety.

Your Role in the Shipping Process:

To facilitate a smooth and efficient shipping process:

Airport Flexibility: As we often transport multiple puppies at once to optimize travel, providing us with a range of dates and times you (or an authorized individual with identification) are available to pick up your puppy at the airport is greatly appreciated.
Confirmation and Booking: Once all necessary arrangements and payments are finalized, we will book your puppy’s flight, typically a day in advance to account for temperature checks.
Flight Information: We will contact you via phone or email with the complete flight details, including the flight number, arrival time, and exact pick-up location at the airport.
Airport Pick-Up: Upon arrival, you will need to present valid photo identification (such as a driver’s license or passport) and the airway bill number (which we will provide) to the airline’s cargo or designated pet pick-up area.
Arrival Confirmation: We kindly request that you contact us as soon as you have safely received your puppy. We are always eager to hear about their arrival and answer any initial questions you may have.
